What do you love?

What do you love?

I have been watching the Hallmark Channel series “When Calls the Heart.” It is a wonderful show. It tugs at my heart strings in almost every episode. On the season four episode I wanted this evening, I realized why I relate to this show so much. One of the main characters is Elizabeth Thatcher, a teacher. She knows that she is called to teach and make a difference in the lives of the children in her town. It’s a beautiful thing to love what you are called to do. I know and love my calling: sometimes it is hard and frustrating BUT so many times my heart smiles. Today was a perfect example. During the creative arts hour at church, our children worked on a video of the Lord's Prayer. My heart was full and my cup overflowed with joy. I truly love working with children and teaching them about God’s love.

How has God made you uniquely gifted to make a difference in this world? What do you enjoy? How are you sharing God’s love with others? I pray that you explore your calling and fall in love with the unique person and the passions God has given you. There is great joy in living into who God Created you to be.

Real World, Real Faith Series - Question #1

Question Number One "IS GOD REAL OR WAS HE MADE UP IN ORDER TO HIDE US FROM THE TRUTH?" This is a great question. I had to think and pray on my response for a few days.  Quick answer: I think He is real. I personally know that deep within my heart.  Middle length answer: I think He is real...personal experience...but I can totally see that how God is incorrectly portrayed can cause people to lack trust in Him, in faith and in Christianity as a whole. You are not alone in this question.  Long answer: I didn't grow up in a Christian home. I had the Bible through by the time I was 12ish. I knew the dos and don'ts of being a Christian...but it wasn't until I was 16- that all of that knowledge became real. Stories and rules do not make a Christian. It is a personal and real relationship with Christ. At 16, Christ became real to me. He was no longer a warm and fuzzy story but a real presence in my life. So...I guess what I am trying to say is that I hope and pray that ...

Thankful Thursday

Thankful Thursday  What are you thankful for today? How have you seen the love and wonderful deeds of our Lord?  Psalm 107:21-22 Let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love     and his wonderful deeds for mankind. Let them sacrifice thank offerings     and tell of his works with songs of joy.
