Gratitude

Daily Lenten Practice Give up unhappiness:  take up gratitude. Psalm 138 A psalm of David. 1  I give you thanks, O  Lord , with all my heart;      I will sing your praises before the gods. 2  I bow before your holy Temple as I worship.      I praise your name for your unfailing love and faithfulness; for your promises are backed      by all the honor of your name. 3  As soon as I pray, you answer me;      you encourage me by giving me strength. 4  Every king in all the earth will thank you,  Lord ,      for all of them will hear your words. 5  Yes, they will sing about the  Lord ’s ways,      for the glory of the  Lord  is very great. 6  Though the  Lord  is great, he cares for the humble,      but he keeps his distance from the proud. 7  Though I am surrounded by troubles,      you will protect me from the anger of my enemies. Be generous in your words...

Lenten Practice of the Day  Give up harsh words:  use generous ones. A gentle answer  turns away wrath,      but a harsh word stirs up anger. Proverbs 15:1  A list of these practices can we found on Chapelwood UMC's website .

Lenten Journey

What is Lent? The early Christians observed with great devotion the days of our Lord's passion and resurrection, and it became the custom of the Church that before the Easter celebration there should be a forty–day season of spiritual preparation. Many people will give something up for Lent. We encourage you to practice Lent in the best way that helps you grow in your relationship with the Lord. As you grow in your relationship with the Lord, you will also grow in your relationship with others.  During this season, we want to challenge ourselves to try these practices. We will highlight a different practice each day.  Give up harsh words:  use generous ones.  Give up unhappiness:  take up gratitude. Give up anger:  take up gentleness and patience. Give up pessimism:  take up hope and optimism. Give up worrying:  take up trust in God. Give up complaining:  value what you have. Give up stress:  take up prayer. Give up judging others:  discover Christ within them

Psalm 33:18

Psalm 33:18 Behold, the eye of the LORD is on those who fear him, on those who hope in his  steadfast love . Who and what do you place your hope in? It is important to put your trust in God. There are many people and things that will fail you but God never does.  LMW
