What do you love?

What do you love? I have been watching the Hallmark Channel series “When Calls the Heart.” It is a wonderful show. It tugs at my heart strings in almost every episode. On the season four episode I wanted this evening, I realized why I relate to this show so much. One of the main characters is Elizabeth Thatcher, a teacher. She knows that she is called to teach and make a difference in the lives of the children in her town. It’s a beautiful thing to love what you are called to do. I know and love my calling: sometimes it is hard and frustrating BUT so many times my heart smiles. Today was a perfect example. During the creative arts hour at church, our children worked on a video of the Lord's Prayer. My heart was full and my cup overflowed with joy. I truly love working with children and teaching them about God’s love. How has God made you uniquely gifted to make a difference in this world? What do you enjoy? How are you sharing God’s love with others? I pray that you explore you

Let's Pray

I don't know about you but Mondays can be tough. Let's give this week over to God, trusting that He is preparing the way and walking with us. We just need to take His hand. The prayer: Lord, I give you this week and all that happens in it...help me to trust in you to provide for my needs and to walk with me through the tough days. I pray that I will be able to see how you are at work in my life and in the lives of those around me. Help me to be full of your love and grace so that I may share it with others. Thank you Lord for all that you are to me. In Jesus Name, Amen

Throw Back Thursday

Throw Back Thursday Think of a time in your life when you felt extra close to God? What do you remember about that time? Is it a location, a church, a group of people, an event in your life? Were you doing any daily disciplines that aided in you feeling close to God? These disciplines may include Bible study, prayer, fasting, worshiping, serving others.  We all go through seasons in our lives where we sometimes feel extra close to God, like He is as close as our next breath. And then there are seasons when we get busy and He feels distant.  In Revelation 2, starting in verse 4...There are some words of wisdom for us today.  4  Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken the love you had at first. 5  Consider how far you have fallen! Repent  and do the things you did at first. If you do not repent, I will come to you and remove your lampstand  from its place. Rev 2:4-5 NIV "Repent and do the things you did at first." What are those things you did when you love for God

Kindness

K is for KINDNESS!  Colossians 3:12  Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourself with compassion,  kindness , humility, gentleness and patience.  Galatians 5:22-23 But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience,  kindness , goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things. As you can see from these verses God calls us to be kind. He even says that when you take in the Holy Spirit, it will produce kindness in you. Growing up I always heard the phrase “Kill ‘em with kindness” or  “You attract more bees with honey than vinegar”. The honey being kindness and the vinegar being the opposite. I don’t think people really realize how much more you can accomplish by simply being kind. Kindness does not mean be pushed around or sweep problems under the rug. It simply means approach everything with the love and joy of Christ. Think of a situation where you or someo

Cling to what is good! Romans 12:9

Cling to what is good! Romans 12:9 This week, I hope you cling to what is good. Take time today to write down what's good in your life. What are you thankful for? Now write down the things in your life that you would like to be different? The not so good things... can you let these things go? What is your life is weighing you down and keeping you from living your fullest life? Sometimes we hold on to things that are not good for us. Deep down we know that they are not good but it's hard to give them up. It takes bravery and strength to give up the bad things and to cling to the good. God will give you everything you need to make wise decisions to let go of the things in your life that are not healthy or holy. The Prayer: Lord, help me cling to what is good and to let go of that which is not healthy or holy. I need your strength and courage to take these next steps and I am counting on you to see me through this. I trust in you Lord. I trust in you. In Jesus name, Amen

And then He said...
