Real World, Real Faith Series - Question #1

 Question Number One "IS GOD REAL OR WAS HE MADE UP IN ORDER TO HIDE US FROM THE TRUTH?" This is a great question. I had to think and pray on my response for a few days.  Quick answer: I think He is real. I personally know that deep within my heart.  Middle length answer: I think He is real...personal experience...but I can totally see that how God is incorrectly portrayed can cause people to lack trust in Him, in faith and in Christianity as a whole. You are not alone in this question.  Long answer: I didn't grow up in a Christian home. I had the Bible through by the time I was 12ish. I knew the dos and don'ts of being a Christian...but it wasn't until I was 16- that all of that knowledge became real. Stories and rules do not make a Christian. It is a personal and real relationship with Christ. At 16, Christ became real to me. He was no longer a warm and fuzzy story but a real presence in my life. So...I guess what I am trying to say is that I hope and pray that ...

Thankful Thursday  What are you thankful for today? How have you seen the love and wonderful deeds of our Lord?  Psalm 107:21-22 Let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love     and his wonderful deeds for mankind. Let them sacrifice thank offerings     and tell of his works with songs of joy.

Verse of the Day 9/7/20

 Verse of the day... 1 Thessalonians 2:11-12  “For you know that we dealt with each of you as a father deals with his own children, encouraging, comforting and urging you to live lives worthy of God, who calls you into his kingdom and glory.” As you read this verse and spend some time in prayer, think on what this verse means to you. Who is comforting you? Urging you to live a life worthy of God?

 Verse of the Day... Jeremiah 29:11  “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.” What does this verse mean to you? Do you believe that the Lord's thoughts towards you are of peace and hope?  <>< LMW

 Verse of the Day... Proverbs 23:18 “For surely there is a hereafter, and your hope will not be cut off.” What does this verse mean to you? What does it mean to not have your hope cut off? If you truly believed this verse...would you be living your life differently?  <><LMW

 Verse of the day... Psalm 147:11 “The LORD takes pleasure in those who fear Him, in those who hope in His mercy.” What does it mean to fear the Lord? Who in your life do you have respect for? To me, fearing the Lord means showing Him respect and honoring him. I do this because of His great mercy.  <>< LMW

 Verse of the day... Psalm 130:7 “O Israel, hope in the LORD; for with the LORD there is mercy, and with Him is abundant redemption.” What does "mercy" mean to you? How would you define "redemption"? Have you experienced those things in your relationship with God? Have you experienced them in your relationships with others? How can you be a person who shows mercy? Think on these questions today.         <><LMW

Verse of the Day 9/2/20

 Verse of the day... Psalm 119:114 “You are my hiding place and my shield; I hope in Your word.” When you have a rough day, where do you find peace? Do you have a certain place you like to go?  Today's scripture encourages us to find our hiding place in the Lord and in HIs word. Next time you have a rough day, find a quiet place to sit and read God's Word. This always encourages my soul and help me re-center. <>< LMW

 Verse of the Day... Psalm 16:9 “Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoices; my flesh also will rest in hope.” What makes your heart glad? What gives you hope? Do you find hope in Christ? If you are lacking hope today, ask God to increase your hope and encourage your heart. <><LMW

Trust

Trust... Is it easy for you to trust people? How about God? What does it mean for you to trust in the Lord with all your heart? Think and pray on that today. Ask the Lord to help you trust him with your whole heart. You will find that He alone is truly and fully trust worthy. Proverbs 3:5

Be Careful...

 Be Careful... Have you ever heard "you are what you think"....I am not sure that this is totally true but I do think that our thoughts impact who we are and how we act. This week, we are working on thoughts and making sure that the negative untrue thoughts are not running our lives. Spend some time in prayer today, centering your thoughts. You could also spend some time listening to your favorite worship music. Music always helps me help my thoughts in line with the truth of God.  May all your thoughts... "May all my thoughts be pleasing to him, for I rejoice in the Lord." Psalm 104: 34 NLT This week, remember to listen for the voice of God as He speaks to you through your thoughts BUT don't let the voices of others be louder than His.  Lord, Help me to out you up front, in the driver's seat, in my thoughts so that I can keep on the right track. Amen.

Whatever...

 Whatever... Do you use the word "whatever"? Maybe in a way that is sassy?Sometimes we use the word "whatever" in a way that means we really don't care. BUT in today's scripture verse from Philippians 4:8, we see it means we really should care...care about what we put in our minds.   Finally, sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Philippians 4:8 NIV It is the non sassy way to use "whatever"because you are focusing on the good things of God. If you can get your mind in line, your actions will follow. So think on "whatever" is true today and don't let lies enter your mind.  <>< LMW
